Short answer
For a short work trip arriving by HSR, stay in Zhubei near Hsinchu HSR Station. For meetings in Hsinchu Science Park or at the universities, stay on Guangfu Road or near the park. For evenings out and a walkable old town, stay near Hsinchu TRA Station. On a house-hunting trip, stay in the area you're thinking of living in.
Hsinchu is spread out, and the two stations are about 10 km apart: the HSR station is in Zhubei (Hsinchu County), the TRA station is in the centre of Hsinchu City. So the right hotel depends on where you'll spend your days. Taxis and ride-hailing are easy to find, but the roads into the Science Park are slow at rush hour. → Getting to the Science Park

We list them by area, not by rank: we haven't stayed in them all, and we'd rather tell you what each is close to. Room rates change with the day and the season, so we don't give prices. Zhubei, by the HSR station (Liujia)
Best for a trip by high-speed rail, the Biomedical Science Park next to the station, and for house-hunting in Zhubei. The HSR station area is new and orderly, with malls and restaurants but quiet evenings. → Zhubei, the neighbourhood guide
Sheraton Hsinchu Hotel (新竹豐邑喜來登大飯店)
The big international hotel of Zhubei, between the HSR station and the county government, with several restaurants, ballrooms and meeting rooms.

- Getting there About 2.3 km from Hsinchu HSR Station. Free hotel shuttle from exit 4, platform 3, every 20 to 30 minutes, about 5 minutes' ride. Also on the 5700 tourist shuttle route.

AJ Hotel Hsinchu (新竹安捷國際酒店)
The closest hotel to the HSR station: two minutes' walk from exit 2 or across the 2nd-floor footbridge, and two minutes from TRA Liujia Station. It has apartment suites (公寓套房) as well as standard rooms, which makes it worth a look for a longer stay or a house-hunting week.

Zhubei, the county-hall area and old Zhubei
West of the HSR district, around the county government and Guangming Road, is where much of Zhubei's daily life happens: shops, restaurants and the cultural centre. There are fewer hotels here. Two licensed hotels we found on the register, and couldn't check beyond it: Xin Da Zhubei Hotel (新大竹北商旅, No. 1, Guangming 9th Road) and Shiang Hao Hotel (享豪大飯店, No. 7, Xinyi Street, in old Zhubei near TRA Zhubei Station). The Science Park side: Guangfu Road and the universities
Best for meetings in Hsinchu Science Park, at National Tsing Hua University or NYCU, and for house-hunting in East District, Guanxin (關新) or Jinshan (金山). Guangfu Road (光復路) is the main road from the freeway interchange past the universities to the city. → East District

A business hotel with restaurants on Guangfu Road, on the Science Park side of the city.

The Ho Hotel (暐順和選旅)
A hotel on Daxue Road (大學路) in East District, the street named for the universities.

- Getting there A paid shuttle to and from Hsinchu HSR Station, NT$120 a person each way: from the hotel at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00 and 13:00, from the station at 14:00, 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00. Book by 21:00 the day before (03-5713633). Pick-up near exit 4 of the HSR station.

Hotel Episode Hsinchu (新竹伊普索酒店)
A Hyatt-group hotel on Gongdao 5th Road (公道五路) in East District. It's on the register (Hsinchu City hotel No. 068, at No. 111, Section 2, Gongdao 5th Road), but Hyatt's site blocked us when we checked, so confirm the details on its booking page.
Lakeshore Hotel Hsinchu (煙波大飯店 新竹湖濱館)
The Lakeshore group's Hsinchu Lakeside property, registered as two buildings on Minghu Road (明湖路, Nos. 773 and 775), south of the city centre toward Qingcaohu. Without a car it's a taxi ride from either station. Website: lakeshore.com.tw.
The city centre, near Hsinchu TRA Station
Best for evenings out, walking to the City God Temple and the old town, and for train trips on the TRA. From here, the HSR station is 19 minutes away on the Liujia Line from Hsinchu Station, or a shuttle bus. → The old city · Where to eat in Hsinchu City
Ambassador Hotel Hsinchu (新竹國賓大飯店)
The city centre's international tourist hotel. On the register with five stars and an international tourist hotel licence (交觀業字第1117號), at No. 188, Section 2, Zhonghua Road, East District. Its website showed a security certificate error when we checked in November 2026, so book through a major platform or by phone if it persists.
Hsinchu Howard (新竹福華大飯店)
On Zhongzheng Road, the street that runs from the station past the East Gate, so you can walk to the old town. Four stars in the Tourism Administration's ratings; Hsinchu City hotel No. 067, at No. 178, Zhongzheng Road, North District. Website: howard-hotels.com.tw.
Sol Hotel (新竹迎曦大飯店)
A business hotel in the old centre. Hsinchu City hotel No. 042, No. 10, Wenhua Street, East District. Website: solhotel.com.tw.
Lakeshore Hotel Hsinchu Metropolis (煙波大飯店 新竹都會館)

Serviced apartments and longer stays
For a stay of weeks rather than nights, ask hotels about monthly rates and apartment-style rooms: AJ Hotel by the HSR station lists apartment suites. We couldn't verify a dedicated, licensed serviced-apartment operator in Hsinchu or Zhubei that we'd recommend by name. Many furnished short-term flats on rental platforms are not licensed as lodging, so check before you book: a legal hotel or B&B has a licence number, and you can look it up on the Tourism Administration's Taiwan Stay (臺灣旅宿網). On a house-hunting trip
- Stay in the area you're considering, and do the commute at rush hour at least once.
- Thinking of Zhubei? Stay by the HSR station and walk the Liujia streets in the evening.
- Thinking of East District? Stay near Guangfu Road or the universities.
- Thinking of the old city? Stay near the TRA station and try the walk to the market in the morning.
